On G's school calendar, Wednesday read: "Wear a shirt with a number on it to school."
Hmmmm...G does not have any sort of sports shirts with numbers, or any shirts with numbers on them. What should I do? Well, the cheap and easy answer would be to write a number on a sticker and stick in on her shirt. But how could I make this task cuter and a lot harder? I know, I can sew a number on a shirt for her! With the great luck I had with zig-zag applique on baby E's owl, I should be able to do this no sweat!
OK, this was NOT as easy as I was hoping. This shape was harder to sew around than the curves and circles of the owl, and the t-shirt knit stretched and bunched. I knew this of course and should have practiced first, but no, I had to just jump in and go for it.
And CARP, I sewed part of it to the back of the t-shirt!
But if you don't look too closely it still looks cute, and G liked it (she picked 6 because she will turn 6 on her next birthday), which is all that really counts. I will have to let my desire for perfection go today...

You are just in the crafting/sewing mood lately, aren't you? Love the 6! Maybe you'll have to teach me some tricks, so I can make some onesies for Evie. You know, in between feeding and changing and burping and holding and...well. Maybe I'll just wait for a while.
